DO YOU HAVE A DESIRE TO PARTICIPATE IN
MECARS? If you would like to participate in
MECARS, all you need is a desire to assist Medina County or Federal Agencies in the event of a disaster. You do not need to belong to a radio club. This group is made up of
INDIVIDUALS with a common desire and a common goal. Communication requires that you hold a valid amateur radio license. If you do not have a license, you may still participate and are more than welcome. There are jobs for everyone. Non licensed individuals, with a valid driver's license, can make weather spotting much safer and easier, since one person can drive and another can observe severe weather.
Radio equipment can range from a handi-talkie to a full blown hamshack, and everything
in-between. In order to be well informed and trained, you should attend as many meetings as possible and listen to and check into the nets to keep up to date on the latest events and training. In order to be able to assist in ARES, RACES and SKYWARN, you should be registered with the appropriate agency. Please E-Mail W8TAH for more information.
