The Medina 2 Meter Group was formed in 1975 by a group of amateurs wanting to further the hobby of amateur radio in Medina county. Since that time,M2M has blossomed into a highly diverse organization. Through the outstanding support of our members an annual hamfest is held. We also participate in many public service events such as, Field Day, The Twin Sizzler Bicycle Race, and Jamboree on the Air to name a few. A committee of the Medina 2 Meter Group known as MECARS, standing for Medina County ARES-RACES-SKYWARN, works very closely with the Medina County Emergency Management Agency to be prepared in the time of need such as the tornado that struck Chippewa in July 1999, and during the recent Year 2000 roll over. Our commitment to public service is evident in our club call sign W8EOC a vanity call sign chosen to represent Emergency Operations Center. We operate a 2 meter repeater (147.030/147.630 pl 141.3 or 88.5), a 70 cm repeater (444.925/449/925 pl 131.8) and a 6 Meter repeater (51.660/51.160 pl 118.8). We run a weekly on-the-air net on 2 meters at 7:30 PM every Monday, except for the second Monday of every month when we hold our in-person meeting. The in-person meetings are held at the Medina Fire Station #1 located at the corner of North Huntington Street and Reagan Parkway (behind the Target store and Regal Cinemas) in Medina. We also hold an informal, round-table 10 meter HF net every Thursday evening at 9.00pm on 28.410 usb. We also sponsor many other fun activities throughout the year.
